Saxophonist Stacy Dillard and trumpeter Josh Evans bring a powerhouse frontline to Black Cat for a four-night run built on swing, edge, and real-time invention. Dillard is known for a rich, commanding tone and a sound that stretches tradition without losing the feeling. Pianist Eric Reed called him “a true improviser,” while Roy Hargrove put it simply: “Stacy is a one-of-a-kind musician.”

Evans brings his own deep fire to the bandstand, with a trumpet voice shaped by the lineage of Jackie McLean, Rashied Ali, Benny Golson, Cedar Walton, Christian McBride, Roy Hargrove, Gregory Porter, T.S. Monk, and many more. Together, Dillard and Evans lead a 5tet made for hard swing, sharp interplay, and the kind of late-night jazz energy that keeps the room on edge.
