Afro-Cuban jazz, fusion, and deep groove powered by flute, EWI, vocals, and a seriously rhythmic live band.
San Francisco multi-instrumentalist and composer Daniel Riera brings a vibrant mix of Afro-Cuban jazz, Latin rhythm, electronic texture, and modern fusion to Black Cat. Moving between flute, EWI, and vocals, Riera leads a groove-heavy band through original music built for movement, interplay, and live improvisation.
A three-time San Francisco Arts Commission artist grant recipient, Riera has also received the ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Award and earned a Latin Grammy nomination for his work with Los Tangueros del Oeste. His music has been featured by NPR, Snap Judgment, and Spooked!, with collaborations spanning La Doña, Watsky, Kev Choice, Mara Hruby, and more.
