Together, they represent a new generation reshaping the sound of modern jazz—bridging continents, traditions, and grooves with fearless creativity and heart. Williams, praised as “an exceptional player loaded with talent, purpose and poignancy” (Julian Joseph, BBC Radio 3), has become a sought-after presence in New York’s vibrant scene, performing with Ralph Peterson, Stacy Dillard, and Lonnie Plaxico. Bradley, a dynamic trumpeter and composer described as “a young musician to keep abreast of” (New York Amsterdam News), brings her deep roots and forward-thinking sound home to the Bay after acclaimed performances with Jason Moran, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Steve Wilson. Bay Area-born, trumpeter, and composer, Akili Bradley brings her dynamic blend of deep jazz tradition and bold innovation to the Black Cat stage. Now based in New York, Bradley has performed at The Village Vanguard, Dizzy’s Club, and The Jazz Gallery, sharing the stage with icons like Dee Dee Bridgewater and Jason Moran. A Berklee College of Music graduate and alum of SFJAZZ High School All-Stars, she’s been hailed as “a young musician to keep abreast of,” making her mark as one of jazz’s most exciting emerging voices.
